Dead System
Tablet will not switch on when fully charged
The motherboard is not installed properly
A dead system does not necessarily mean a dead motherboard. If a motherboard has just been installed, it is likely that the installer neglected to connect one of the cables or made some other error while installing it.
To ensure that an error was made while installing the motherboard, you will need to open your tablet.
- Using a flat tool, remove the back casing of your tablet.
- Analyze the motherboard. There should be 6 wires connected to it, 2 for the speaker, 2 for the battery and 2 for the screen.
- If wires are not connected, properly rewire them to the motherboard.
Dead motherboard
If the motherboard is installed properly and the system is still not functioning, the motherboard may be dead, which means it's time to replace it.
- Using a flat tool, remove the back casing of your tablet.
- Carefully disconnect the wires from the motherboard.
- Reconnect the wires to a new motherboard.
Screen is Unresponsive
Screen does not respond to touch when powered on
Dirty screen
In most cases, if there's any dirt collected in the touchscreen, it may lose sensitivity to touch. Clean the screen with a disinfectant wipe.
Software problem
If the screen is clean and the touchscreen is still unresponsive, personal settings may be interfering with the software. At this point, restart the device.
Damaged screen
If the device has been dropped, knocked, or damaged somehow, and the screen is damaged, it maybe interfering with the touch sensitivity of the screen. In this case, the display will need to be replaced.
- Using a flat tool, remove the back casing of the device (it will snap off).
- Using a screwdriver, remove the screws along the inside of the device(there is two screws under the motherboard, do not forget those).
- At this point, you should be able to remove the display.
- Screw back the screws to a new display.
- Snap the back casing into place.
The Speaker is Not Working
The tablet audio is distorted.
Water Damage
If your device has been exposed to water, your speaker may have fluid in it, which is causing distorted audio. First, try playing a low and loud consistent frequency (which can be found on the internet) which will help push the fluid out of your speaker. I
If the audio quality is still poor, try the following steps:
- Completely submerge your device in rice, you can even take the back off of your device with light force and submerge the screen and wiring components.
- Leave the device in rice for about twenty-four hours, as to allow the rice to absorb any liquid in your device.
Damaged Speaker
The speaker may have debris in the system. Clean the speaker area, or used canned air to clean any dust or dirt out of speaker ports. You may take a cloth or cotton swab and a small amount of rubbing alcohol to gather debris from the speaker ports for better audio quality. The speaker could have water damage, which may be unrepairable.
Failed Speaker
The speaker may be damaged enough that the wiring is no longer functional, or the speaker may have been blown out. If the device is not emitting any sound whatsoever, or the sound is very distorted, the speaker may be damaged beyond simple repair. In this case, the speaker may need to be removed and replaced.
To remove the speaker, follow these steps:
- You must first carefully remove any tape from the speaker and connecting wires.
- Next, remove the wires from the motherboard, and rewire your replacement speaker.
- You may need to utilize Kapton tape to secure your new speaker placement.
The Device Does Not Charge.
The device does not charge when plugged into an outlet.
Broken or Damaged Charger
- First, plug the charger into the tablet's charger port. If it does not seem to be turning on, then you could have a broken or damaged charger. Depending on if stores nearby have chargers, then you may need to buy a new one.
Dirty Charger Port
- If the charger is not broken, check the charger port. You can use a soft cotton swab to try and get any kind of debris out of the port, or a toothpick. Once you're done, put the charger back in, and see if it charges now.
Broken Battery
- Depending on if the methods listed above did not work, the battery is either faulty or broken. A new one may need to be installed with the help of some tools, or with the help of a professional. You can replace the battery by doing the following;
- Make sure your device is turned off.
- Remove the back casing of the tablet, and use the flat end of a plastic spudger to remove the battery from the device and disconnect it from any wires.
- Place the new battery inside, connect it to the necessary wires, and put the back casing on once more.
Data Storage Failure
The device is unable to recover data.
Missing or Damaged SIM Card
The SIM card in the device may be damaged, expired, or missing entirely.
- First, locate the SIM card slot on the side of your device. This can be opened by inserting a thin object, like a paper clip, into the hole on the slot. This will push the slot out enough for it to be pulled from the device by hand.
- Next, determine if your SIM card is present or not.
- If your card is NOT present, the device should be taken to the nearest technology company in order for you to purchase a new SIM card.
- If your card is present and visibly damaged or dirty, it should be cleaned to the best of your ability and re-tested in the device.
- If the card is present and a specific issue can’t be located, the device and card should be taken to the nearest technology company so the issue can be resolved.
