Device Won't Turn On

No matter what you do, you can't get your Audio System to turn on.

Faulty Power Cord

Check to see that the power cord is fully plugged in. If the device still does not turn on, check both the cord and the plug for any corrosion. If there appears to be any corrosion, the corroded part must be replaced. See our replacement for the Sony CPF-IP001 Power Cord Replacement.

Faulty Power Switch

Try cleaning around the power switch. If this doesn't work, the steps found in the Sony CPF-IP001 Power Cord Replacement guide can also be followed to reach the power switch.

Problems With Sound

The speakers are not making sound or making weird sounds.

Device Isn't On Correct Setting

Check that there are no headphones plugged in. Check your speakers are set to play music on the same setting you are trying to use (i.e. aux, iPod). If the buttons on the speaker housing are not working, they may be broken. See the Sony CPF-IP001 Buttons on Main Speaker Replacement guide.

Blown Speaker

If your speakers are making a rattling noise, they may be blown and need to be replaced. Reference this guide for more help: Sony CPF-IP001 Main Speaker Replacement.

Problems With Subwoofer

Try turning the subwoofer off and then on again. Once you're sure the subwoofer is on, check to see if the mute button is turned on and try turning up the volume. Check to see there are no headphones plugged in. If there is any humming or rattling, the subwoofer might be blown. See the Sony CPF-IP001 Subwoofer Replacement guide.

Speakers Are Unresponsive to Connected Device

Your speaker isn't recognizing the device you're playing music off of.

Something Blocking Port

Check there is nothing in the port of your iPod preventing a connection.

Devices Aren't Compatible

Make sure the device you are trying to connect is compatible with the speakers. The port and dock should look the same. If they do not, you will need to purchase an adapter or use an auxiliary cord to transmit sound.

Dock Is Broken

If the speakers are still not recognizing your device, the dock may need replacing.

Remote Isn't Working

The speakers will play music, but the remote isn't working properly.

Speakers Don't Recognize Remote

If the speakers are having trouble recognizing the remote, make sure there are no obstacles between the two devices. Make sure you are pointing the remote towards the speakers. Move the device away from any fluorescent light. Make sure your iPod is securely connected and nothing is blocking the port.

Remote Battery Is Dead

If after making sure there are no obstacles between the remote and speaker and the speakers still aren't responding to the remote, the batteries may be dead. Try replacing the batteries using the CPF-IP001 Remote Battery Replacement guide.

Buttons Not Functioning

If the buttons on your remote are not functioning, try cleaning the remote. If the remote still does not work, try replacing the rubber behind the button.
