If the touchpad in your IdeaPad 320-15IKB isn't working as expected, this page may have a possible solution to the problem.
Touchpad is Disabled
- Check that the touchpad is not disabled by pressing the touchpad toggle key (Fn + F6) on the keyboard.
- Go to Settings → Bluetooth & Devices → Touchpad and make sure the touchpad is turned on.
- Restart the laptop and test again.
- If an external mouse is plugged in, unplug it and check if the touchpad responds.
Touchpad is Dirty
- Clean the surface of the touchpad with a dry microfiber cloth as dirt and oils can cause irregular movement.
- Go to Settings → Bluetooth & Devices → Touchpad and adjust the sensitivity settings.
- Update the touchpad driver through Device Manager to ensure you have the latest version.
- Check for any pending Windows updates and install them.
Incorrect Settings
- Go to Settings → Bluetooth & Devices → Touchpad and confirm that tap to click is enabled.
- Try pressing down firmly on the touchpad as the click mechanism may need more pressure.
- Update or reinstall the touchpad driver through Device Manager.
- If clicks still do not register, the touchpad may be physically damaged and need replacement.
Outdated Driver
- Open Device Manager and locate the touchpad under "Mice and other pointing devices."
- Right click the touchpad device and select "Update Driver."
- If updating does not work, right click and select "Uninstall Device," then restart the laptop to reinstall the driver automatically.
Physical Damage
- Visually inspect the touchpad surface for any cracks, deep scratches, or visible damage.
- If the touchpad is physically damaged and none of the above steps resolve the issue, a full touchpad replacement will be necessary. Refer to this guide for instructions.
