Does your Kyocera DuraXA display “Unusable SIM Card! No Service”? Use this troubleshooting guide to help diagnose why.
Loose or Misaligned SIM card:
- First, power off your device, make sure that the device is fully shut down and unplugged to avoid any harm to persons or the device. On the back of the find locate the SIM card slot and carefully remove SIM card. Once you're able to fully visualize the SIM card, align SIM card into tray, ensuring the gold contacts on the SIM card are facing down (towards the phone). Once properly aligned, slide the SIM card in making sure the cutoff corner is facing the top left. To ensure proper placement focus upon sitting flush with the phone plus feel it latch into place. One mistake user often makes inserting the SIM card (right) into SD card slot (left). Replace battery and back cover making sure they are properly sealed.
Scratched or a bent SIM card:
- First, power off your device, make sure that the device is fully shut down and unplugged to avoid any harm to persons or the device. Once the SIM card is removed from the tray, clean it with a cloth, and gently remove all dust from the card. If the SIM card is bent when removed from the tray, press it against a flat surface, gently flattening it out, don’t force it to be flat, or it will break or be damaged. Once this is all completed, add the SIM card back to its tray and try to start the phone.
Inactive or defective SIM Card:
- First, power off your device, make sure that the device is fully shut down and unplugged to avoid any harm to persons or the device. Once complete, open the SIM card tray by opening the back of the phone (see dead/broken battery section) . Once the tray is open, remove the SIM card and inspect it, making sure it isn't damaged or dirty. If it is dirty, gently clean it and insert it back into the phone, making sure it is fully in place.
Damaged SIM tray:
- Power off phone and remove the back cover and the battery. Check if the metal flap securing the SIM card is bent or broken or if the gold contact pins are damaged. If damaged, you have options to send the device in for service through Kyocera's repair program or use a local third-party repair service. If the device is under warranty, it will be repaired or replaced at no cost.
