Kodak EasyShare C813 Troubleshooting

The C813 is the successor to the C713. It features many of the same characteristics as the C713, including a 3X optical zoom lens and a 2.4 inch indoor/outdoor color display. However, it also is host to an 8.2 MP camera versus the 7.0 featured on the C713.

Note: This troubleshooting guide covers only the C813 camera. Some guides included may work for C713, but are written for the C813.

LCD screen is cracked and/or no image can be viewed on the screen.

The only solution to a damaged LCD screen is to replace. Obtain a replacement LCD screen that fits this camera. Then visit LCD Screen Repair Guide for instructions to replace the LCD screen.

The screen has a black or blue display in review mode.

Check image storage location setting to see that the pictures taken are saved in the desired folder. After viewing storage settings, retake picture and see if problem occurs again. If the problem continues, try the next method.

After inspecting the image storage location setting, try reinserting the memory card or replacing it with a new one and then retake the pictures. Visit Memory Card Installation guide for instructions to install memory card.

'' The camera does not perform any actions when the shutter button is pressed."

When the camera does not have any free memory or storage room, it will not permit the user to take any pictures because there is no room to store the new pictures. To make room in the camera's memory, turn on the camera and then transfer the pictures from the camera to the computer or delete any unwanted pictures to acquire space on the memory card. If these actions are not available, replace the full memory card with a new one. Visit Memory Card Installion guide for instructions to install memory card.

If there is a physical damage with the shutter button such as a crack, visit Shutter Button Repair Guide for instructions to replace the button. But first, a replacement shutter button needs to be obtained before referring to the guide.

If you are not planning to replace the button but instead the button seems to be jammed, visit Shutter Button Repair Guide to fix button's mechanism.

You need to change the camera's settings or the method of taking the picture .

Stand at a comfortable location or place the camera at a location that is at least 2 ft (0.6 m) away from the subject. Another solution is to decrease the exposure compensation in the camera's picture settings.

Make sure the camera lens are clean. Also, make sure your camera is not in Close-up mode when not taking a close-up picture. Be sure to stand at a comfortable location or place the camera at a location that is at least 2 ft (0.6 m) away from the subject. And if you are having difficulty with keeping the camera steady when taking pictures, try placing the camera on a steady surface or on a tripod.

Turn on the flash to illuminate the subject when taking the picture. If problem is not with the flash, try standing at a comfortable location or place the camera at a location that is no more than 11.8 ft (3.6 m) in wide angle and 6.9 ft (2.1 m) in telephoto between the camera and the subject.

Another method is to use the camera's function "Fill Flash" or change position so that light is not behind the subject. Also, try increasing the camera's exposure compensation in the picture settings if all other solutions do not work.

Memory card and/or internal memory full ==

No further pictures can be taken because there is not enough storage space in the memory card or internal camera memory.

Transfer the pictures and/or videos from the camera to the computer or delete any unwanted pictures and/or videos to acquire space on the memory card. Pictures cannot be transferred to the computer or the computer does not recognize the camera.

Turn on the camera. If the camera cannot be turned on install new batteries or charge rechargeable batteries. Next, connect USB cable to camera and computer port. Then, open up the camera's computer software. Install the camera's software if you have not and re-install the software if it does not work properly.

If everything mentioned above seems to be working fine but the problem continues to occur, disconnect the camera and and close all applications. Then repeat the steps above.

The battery life seems to only last for a short period of time.

Corrosion on the battery may cause them to be less effective, so always keep the battery ends uncontaminated by wiping it with a clean, dry cloth. Certain camera habits may drain the battery life too. Therefore, limit the following activities that quickly deplete battery power: reviewing pictures/videos on LCD, excessive use of flash.

No flash present when a picture is taken.

There is an automatic shoot mode on the camera. With the automatic mode, flash is only turned on when the camera feels that it is necessary. To have flash be on in every picture, change the camera setting from automatic mode to flash mode.
