Insignia NS-B2110 Troubleshooting

No display, no audio...nothing is happening.

This may sound simple, but always check this first. Even if you think it's plugged in, check to make sure the plug isn't sticking out from the outlet at all. If it is plugged into a power strip, make sure the strip is on.

On the back face of the device towards the right there is a switch that slides left and right controlling the power. Make sure this switch is in the "on" position.

This cd player has an option for using batteries to power the device. One bad battery can prevent the player from turning on. Find and replace the bad batteries using the Battery Replacement Guide.

The device has power, but when you put a CD into the tray no sound will come out.

The CD could be playing without you even knowing if the volume is too low. On the front face of the device there is a button marked "Volume". Use this to increase the volume.

If there is any kind of moisture in the CD loading area it will keep the CD from playing. Even if there is no visible moisture, remove the CD and leave the tray open for about an hour to dry.

The issue may not be with your music player at all, it may be the CD. Try playing a different CD. If this works, you know where the problem is. This can be fixed easily by cleaning the CD. If the problem persists, the CD may not be repairable.

If nothing else works, the laser reading the CD is probably broken. Refer to the Laser Replacement Guide for instructions on how to fix this.

The device has power, but when you try to listen to the radio no sound will come out.

The radio could be playing without you even knowing if the volume is too low. On the front face of the device there is a button marked "Volume". Use this to increase the volume.

The radio must be set to the correct station in order to pick up to signal. Even if you are tuned to the station you want to listen to, it is possible that station has quit broadcasting. Try searching through the other frequencies to see if you pick up any other signals.

If the antennae is broken, the radio will be unable to pick up any signals or the signal will be very weak. Refer to the Antennae Replacement Guide for instructions on how to fix this.

The CD will play, but after a certain amount of time the audio will jump around or quit altogether.

If the CD is scratched or damaged, it will reach a specific point and skip frequently or get stuck in this spot. This can be fixed easily by cleaning the CD. If the problem persists, the CD may not be repairable.

The laser that reads the CD is focused using a lens. If this lens is dirty or broken, the laser won't read the CD properly and could results in skipping. Refer to the Internal Component Disassembly Guide to reach the lens. Use a polyester cloth to wipe the lens clean.

The traverse assembly controls the path the laser travels along to read the CD. If this is dirty or broken the CD will skip frequently or get stuck in one spot at random. Take your device into a professional to have this replaced.

Everything works on the device until you try to press one of the buttons on the front face and nothing happens.

If there appears no physical damage to the buttons, they may have lost their connection to the operating system. Many times, this can be fixed by restarting the phone. Press and hold the power button to turn the phone off, then press and hold again to turn it back on.

If there is physical damage to the buttons or nothing else seems to work, the buttons that aren't working probably need to be replaced. Refer to the Button Replacement Guide for instructions on how to do this.

If your issue is specifically with the "Next Track" or "Previous Track" buttons, the problem is probably internal. Refer to the troubleshooting section "CD Skips" and follow those instructions.
