HP Pavilion Wave Desktop PC Speaker Has No Sound:
When trying to play any media, there is no sound coming from the HP Pavilion Wave.
Speaker Has No Sound
You need to go to settings and type audio.
From the menu that pops-up, select “manage audio devices.”
From there, select HP Pavilion Wave. Then click the set to default button at the bottom followed by the apply button
Computer Locks Up or Freezes:
The computer is not performing as expected and keeps freezing. This makes the computer monitor stop responding to the mouse and keyboard input (there will be nothing moving on the computer display). The mouse cursor may be in a constant busy mode and some programs may stop responding.
Computer Not Responding
Press and hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
Turn on the computer and immediately press the F2 key, about once every second, until the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) screen displays.
Click System Tests, and then click Quick Test.
The Computer Is Slow:
The computer is not performing as expected and there are performance issues with a program or application. There are issues when you try to start and shutdown windows. There are performance issues with games and some programs stop responding.
Poor Performance
Upgrade your RAM to over 4GB ram, or more for best performance.
Upgrade your Operating System to the latest version.
Check the maximum memory supported by the computer and ensure that you upgrade to a higher value.
Noisy Hard Drive and/or Fans:
Excessive noise, or vibration from fans and other internal components.
Dirty Fans
Use an air canister to blow dust out of the fans.
System Overload
Ensure that there are no large programs running in the system.
This can be done by clicking the control key, alt key and delete key all at once.
Then a task manager will pop up.
Check the running programs, you will be able to determine which program is using a lot of space and terminate it.
Microphone Not Working On Cortana:
The microphone will not work while Cortana is in use.
Microphone Not Working
Run the Audio Troubleshooter.
In the windows search, type and click “troubleshooting”.
Click “playing audio”. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Disabled Microphone
Check for disabled microphone.
From the task-bar, right click the volume icon and select recording devices.
Click the “show disconnected devices” and “show disabled devices.”
Select the microphone and click “properties.” If it is disabled, enable it.
After it is enabled, make the microphone default audio input device.
Microphone Muted
Right click the volume icon on the task-bar, select “volume mixer.”
Slide the microphone increment to 100% and boost the sensitivity of Microphone.
On the task-bar, right-click the volume icon and select “recording.”
Double click the microphone.
To check audio, open the levels tab and move the microphone boost slider up.
To Disable Enhancements, right click the "Volume" icon on the task-bar and select “recording.”
Then double click Microphone.
Open the enhancements/effects tab.
Check “disable all sound/system effects.”
Apply the settings and test the microphone again.
Microphone Format Issues
Change the format of microphone.
Right click the volume icon on the task-bar and select “recording devices.”
Double click the microphone and in the advanced tab, choose any of the 16 bit options
HP Pavilion Wave Desktop PC Fails To Use Cortana
Cortana will not run, or operate correctly.
Microsoft Needs Access
Before being able to use Cortana, Windows needs permission to access your personal information.
Cortana Is Not Set Up
Make sure your computer is connected to a secure internet connection.
Open Cortana by selecting the “Ask me anything” box.
From the “Anything else I can do?” window, review Cortana’s performing tasks and click “Cortana can do much more.”
From the permissions window, select “Sure” in order to allow Microsoft to access your personal information.
The “Great, thanks!” window will appear, click “Sign in” (If you have a Microsoft account, use your account information to sign in).
If you do not have a Microsoft account, click “Create one!” and follow the steps for creating an account.
