Blank Screen Display
The printer control panel is blank or black.
Power Outlet is Faulty
Your printer may not be plugged into an adequate power source, such as a power strip or surge protector. If this is the case, power off the printer, disconnect it from its current power source and plug it directly into a wall outlet. Turn on the printer to test if the control panel is functional.
Printer Needs to be Reset
The screen may be staying blank due to a software/hardware issue that can be fixed by resetting the printer.
Follow these instructions to reset your printer.
- Turn on your printer and let it warm up until it is silent.
- Disconnect the power cord from the rear of your printer, then remove the cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds, then plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Pug the power cord into the rear of the printer.
- Turn on the printer.
Screen Display is Broken
If you tried all the previous solutions and the control panel still does not function correctly, it may be broken and need to be replaced. You can find a replacement guide here.
The Printer Doesn’t Power On
The printer doesn’t respond or show any signs of powering on
Power Outlet May Not Work
The printer may not power on because the outlet doesn’t work. Try plugging other devices into the outlet; as well as, plugging the printer into a different outlet.
Power Adapter is Faulty
Make sure the power adapter is plugged in. If the printer still won’t power on then the power adapter may be faulty. You can find a replacement guide here.
Motherboard is Broken
If none of the other solutions work then the motherboard may be broken and needs to be replaced. You can find the replacement guide here.
Printhead Error Message
Here are some examples of error messages on the printer control panel.
- Problem with Ink System
- Missing or Failed Printhead
- Ink System Failure
- Printer Failure
- Carriage Jam
Printhead Sensor Issue
The printer may simply may not be sensing that the printhead is in place and will be need to be reset.
Follow these instructions to reset your printer.
- Turn on your printer and let it warm up until it is silent.
- Disconnect the power cord from the rear of your printer, then remove the cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds, then plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Pug the power cord into the rear of the printer.
- Turn on the printer.
Printhead Needs to be Reseatted or Replaced
If the problem persists after the printer has been reset, the printhead may need to be reseatted or replaced. You can find the the following guide here.
The Ink Cartridge isn’t Recognized
Non-empty ink cartridges aren’t recognized by the printer.
Ink Cartridges aren’t Supported
HP printers only use HP <ink> ink cartridges, and will reject third party ones. If the ink cartridge was refilled than the security chip may not have been reset causing it to be rejected.
Ink Cartridges May Need to be Reinserted
If the ink cartridge is the correct one then it may need to be reinserted. While the printer is on, open the front panel on the printer and remove the cartridge and reinsert it.
Streaks While Printing
Streaks or lines are visually apparent on printed pages
Printhead Issue
Streaks and lines when printing are nearly always caused by an issue with the printhead. Usually, the printhead is simply dirty or partially blocked and needs to be cleaned.
If the problem persists after cleaning, it is likely the printhead is damaged and needs to be replaced.

When setting up, printer sees the network but will not connect even with password

printing from a remote location only works when office jet 8625 is turned off then back on. how do i fix this so its will pick up & print without turning off/on?

My Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series computer will print to the HP Officejet Pro 8625 but only prints really small and doesn’t fill out an 8.5 x 11 page.
Any suggestions? I’ve downloaded the driver and it still does the same thing.
