GameSir X2 Type-C Troubleshooting
How to fix common user issues with the GameSir X2 Type-C Gaming Controller.
Device Not Recognized By Phone
When you plug your phone into the GameSir, the controller doesn’t connect to the phone.
Game Doesn’t Support Controller
Your GameSir might not support the game you are trying to play. To ensure the controller supports your games, download the “GameSir” application to check the list of games provided. To do so, you need to go to the app’s application on your phone and type “GameSir” in the search bar. Choose the e on the GameSir application and click install. Once the app is downloaded, you can open it and check the game options.
Insecure Connection
Your phone might not be correctly plugged into the GameSir port. Try unplugging the phone and plugging it back in.
If the device is still not recognized by phone, there might be an issue with the plug, consider buying a new plug and refer to our Plug Replacement Guide to learn how to replace it.
Faulty Plug
Check to see if your plug is loose or doesn’t appear to be connected correctly to the GameSir. If so, you will need to refer to our Plug Replacement Guide to learn how to take out your plug to either correctly connect it back in or replace it with a new one.
Connection Dropouts
Your device keeps disconnecting from the phone after being connected for a while.
Phone Size is too large or too small
If your phone doesn’t comfortably fit into the GameSir, then your phone size is probably not compatible with the controller. Try removing your phone case and plugging the phone back into the GameSir. If your phone is too small, try adding a case to your phone and plugging it back into the GameSir.
Phone Updated
Some updates do not support the GameSir controller. Check to see if your phone updates before the disconnection occurred and refer to this list by Gamesir: https://www.gamesir.hk/pages/gamesir-x2-.... If so, you will need to buy a newer version of the GameSir controller that supports the update, or you can consider purchasing a more advanced/updated motherboard to replace the device’s motherboard. Follow the steps in our Motherboard Replacement Guide to successfully replace your GameSir’s motherboard.
Dirty Port
Your GameSir is likely to build dirt under the connection port over time. Refer to our Plug Replacement Guide to remove your port. You can then use rubbing alcohol and a clean cloth to gently clean under the port before popping it back in place.
Overheating of the Device
If you have been using your GameSir for a long time, your device is likely to be overheating causing connection dropouts. Try unplugging your phone and giving the GameSir time to rest and go back to its normal temperature.
Faulty Plug
If none of the previous issues apply to your GameSir, your connection plug is probably faulty, consider purchasing a new one and refer to our Port Replacement Guide to successfully remove the old plug and place the new one.
Buttons Getting Stuck
The buttons fail to spring back into position after being pushed.
Dirt Buildup Under Buttons
Over time, your device is likely to build up dirt under the buttons causing the buttons to become sticky and get stuck. Refer to our Button Replacement Guide to learn how to remove your buttons. You can then use rubbing alcohol and a clean cloth to gently clean under the buttons before popping them back into place.
Too Much Force Used to Push Buttons
If you have been pushing the buttons too hard, the buttons are likely to get stuck and not be able to spring back into position. To fix this problem, refer to our Botton Replacement Guide to remove your buttons and place them back. Try to press the buttons more gently in the future to avoid complications.
Device Doesn’t Retract
The device does not retract back when the phone is taken out of the device.
Spring Damaged Due to Excess Extension
The spring can become damaged by pulling on the device too hard, or possibly fitting a phone that is too large in the device. In this case, the spring would have to be replaced with a new spring. To successfully replace the spring refer to our Spring Replacement Guide.
Worn Out Spring
Over time, the spring in the device may stop being able to retract the device. If so, consider purchasing a new spring and refer to our Spring Replacement Guide.
Joystick Covers Slip Off Easily
The rubber joystick covers do not stay on the joysticks when used.
Dirty Joysticks
Oil and debris may cause the rubber covers to slip off easily. Try cleaning the joystick with rubbing alcohol and allow the joystick to dry before replacing the rubber joystick cover.
Worn Out Rubber Covers
After extensive use, friction causes the rubber joystick covers to become worn out and slip off the device easily. Try replacing them with the second set of joystick covers included in the case.
Triggers Become Non-Responsive
When pressed, the trigger does not produce an output on the connected device.
Insecure Connection Between GameSir and Device
Ensure that the connection between the device and the GameSir is secure. An insecure connection can be caused by a dirty connection port or the device is not firmly held in place. Consider referring to our Port Replacement Guide to remove your port and clean under it with rubbing alcohol and a clean cloth. If that doesn’t work, consider purchasing a new port and replacing it.
Dirty Trigger
Debris buildup can prevent the trigger from completely depressing and registering an output on the device. Use a wooden toothpick or Q-Tip dipped in rubbing alcohol to clean between the trigger and the casing of the device.
Faulty Trigger
The trigger can become worn out and obsolete after extensive use. Consider purchasing a replacement trigger and refer to the Trigger Replacement Guide to replace the trigger.
Faulty Motherboard
In rare circumstances, the motherboard may fail to recognize the connection between the trigger and the motherboard. If this is the case, the motherboard may need to be replaced. Use the Motherboard Replacement Guide for instructions on replacing the motherboard with a new one.
