The guitar sound is distorted.

The guitar does not sound like it usually does.

Guitar may be out of tune

When the instrument is frequently used, it can fall out of tune. Tuning the strings need to happen regularly. A tuner is needed as a guide to tune each string on the guitar to find the accurate tones. Look at "There is something wrong with the strings" to see how.

The strings are buzzing

When the strings are loosely placed, the strings may buzz. You need to tighten any hardware that holds the strings and ensure that the strings are placed correctly on the nut and bridge with no interference.

The strings may be old

Guitar strings have to be replaced every few months, especially when the instrument is played often. If not replaced, the strings can be difficult to play or lose its luster, resulting in plain tones.

There is something wrong with the strings.

Your strings may be broken, flat, or need to be tuned.

The strings are out of tune

A tuner is necessary to accurately tune strings. Place the tuner near the instrument being tuned, and adjust it to the right note. Each string is adjusted by turning the knob, corresponding to that string, found at the headstock. Note: Do not adjust the string too much for this can lead to breaking the string.

The strings may be old

Your strings may not sound like it originally did, or have a plain tone. In this case, check to see if the strings are properly tuned. If they are and they still sound stale, you may need to replace the strings.

The strings have split

Your strings may have broken or split making it unable for you to play. If this is the case, be warned that it is dangerous to play when the strings are damaged. You will need to replace the strings with a new set.

There is no sound coming from the amplifier.

You are unable to hear any noise from the amplifier.

May be a loose audio cable connection

Verify that the audio cable is correctly plugged into the guitar’s output jack and the amplifier’s input jack.

The volume knob may be turned down

Check the volume knob to see if it is turned all the way down. If so, turn the knob halfway to supply sound on the guitar and the amplifier.

The guitar's volume knob is broken

If the volume knob on the guitar has chipped from use, the knob will be hard to use. If this is the case, the volume knob would need to be replaced.

The tuner may be old

If you are repeatedly tuning the strings and they continue to fall out of tune shortly thereafter, it could be the tuners need to be replaced with some better quality tuners.

I have a problem. the output jack lock nut came undone as it seems that it was assembled without the friction washer that is typically part of the assembly, and the jack has fallen into the body of the guitar. Is there a easy way to fish it out? My email is petemarx@outlook.com. Thank you.
