BlackBerry won't turn on
Your BlackBerry won't turn on even if the light is on.
Bad Charger
If your BlackBerry does not turn on, there may be a problem with the charger, and it may need to be replaced.
- Plug your BlackBerry into a different charger (one you know is working):
- Turn on your BlackBerry 7100g. If it works, then the old charger is the problem and needs to be replaced. If it does not turn on, then the battery may be the problem.
Bad Battery
If your BlackBerry still does not turn on after you have changed the charger, then there may be a battery problem. The battery may not be charged or is overcharged. If you leave your BlackBerry plugged in when it is fully charged or charge it too often it may result in a shorter battery life.
Note : Before tossing away your old battery and buying a new one, troubleshoot it first. Here are some guides to help troubleshoot your battery issue:
- First charge your battery.
- Turn your BlackBerry on. If it does not turn on:
- Remove the battery from the BlackBerry. How to remove the battery
- Wait for 10 second.
- Re-insert the battery back into the BlackBerry.
- Turn your BlackBerry on.
Note: This is called a "soft reset" and if it does not get the BlackBerry to turn on, move onto replacing the battery.
- Replacing the battery or terminal:
- Turn BlackBerry on. If your BlackBerry still won't turn on, then there may be something wrong with your battery or the battery terminal.
- If the contact pins on the phone appear to be bent or broken, you may need to replace the terminal. For help, use this guide: Removing the battery terminal.

Screen is frozen
When your BlackBerry is on, your screen does not display anything or is frozen.
If the screen appears to be frozen and has been frozen for several minutes try the following:
- Turn off your BlackBerry and turn it back on.
- If the screen is still frozen after turning it on, remove the battery for about 10 seconds. Then re-insert the battery.
- Turn BlackBerry on.

Doesn't Send or Receive Messages
Outgoing messages are not sent and/or incoming messages are not detected.
Sending Messages
If your BlackBerry won't send email messages, try one of the following methods:
- Try resending the message:
- Open the message. Click the trackwheel. Click Resend.
- Verify that that your BlackBerry is connected to a wireless network. If you are not in a wireless coverage area, your device should send messages when you return to a wireless coverage area.
- If the menu item for sending a message does not appear, verify that you have added an email address or PIN for your contact.
- If you have not received a registration message from the wireless network, register your device.
- In the device options, click Advanced Options.
- Click Host Routing Table.
- Click the trackwheel.
- Click Register Now.
Receiving Messages
If your BlackBerry won't receive email messages, try one of the following methods:
- Verify that that your BlackBerry is connected to a wireless network. If you are not in a wireless coverage area, your device should send messages when you return to a wireless coverage area.
- If you switched devices, verify that you have updated the device PIN on the email set up website. To Find your device PIN:
- In the device options, click Status.
- Log in to the email set up website. Click Change Device.
- Type the new BlackBerry device information.
- Click Save.
- If you use email message filters, verify that the options for email message filters are set correctly.
Battery not charging
Your smartphone shuts off the instant you unplug it from the charger.
- Refer to Bad Charger under BlackBerry won't turn on.
- If your device still won't charge, refer to Bad Battery under BlackBerry won't turn on.
Internet service not working
Your BlackBerry will not connect to the internet.
No Data Plan
Your BlackBerry will not connect if you do not have a data plan.
- Buy a data plan from your service provider.
- If you already have a data plan or this does not fix your problem, go to the next step.
No Service
You may be in an area where your BlackBerry doesn't get service.
- Go to an area where you do have service.
Reset Your BlackBerry
Preforming a soft reset may fix the problem.

Speaker does not function correctly
Having trouble hearing the caller when the caller can hear you perfectly fine from the other end.
Before you decide to buy a new device, follow these steps to test your speaker's functionality.
- Check to see if the speaker button is on.
- Check if the volume is up all the way.
- Test your speaker playing music or ringtone to see if the speaker is working.
- If you can hear music, then the cause of the static is probably your connection or where you are at.
- If you can't hear music, then your speaker is broken.
If you hear nothing, then your speaker is broken. Please follow the speaker repair guide to replace the broken speaker.
Bluetooth files won't transfer
Your files won't transfer either to or from your BlackBerry.
Sometimes a file transfer may not be possible because of incompatibility between devices, but here are a few things you can try before giving up:
- Turn the bluetooth feature (or the device itself) off and back on.
- Connect or pair the devices (if not done already).
Bluetooth devices won't connect to your BlackBerry
Devices like headsets won't pair with (connect to) your BlackBerry.
If you are trying to connect a headset or other Bluetooth device to your BlackBerry it must be made "discoverable" first. All devices are different, but generally the first time you turn it on it should go into a pairing mode. If you don't have the directions that came with your device, try to find them online.
Note: Make sure you follow all directions included with your new device on pairing.
Unlocking Your BlackBerry
Your BlackBerry is locked and you can't unlock it.
Phone Service Unlock
When you are traveling overseas and your phone service is not cooperating, you have to unlock your handheld device to connect.
- Enter SIM Unlock code. Note: The unlock code is provided by the carrier.
- Click Enter.
- Reboot your handheld device.
