Asus L406M Blue Screen Error

Is your Asus L406M freezing and displaying a blue error screen? Use this troubleshooting guide to help diagnose why.

Keep vents clear. Check for dust, lint, or any debris that may be obstructing the fans.

Reduce heavy multitasking, switching between applications, and do not have more than ten tabs open.

Adjust power settings. Go to control panel and then select Power Options, select Balanced, then go to Advanced Settings, click on Processor Power Management, and set Maximum Processor State to 85-90%. This should reduce heat.

Go to Device Manager, right click Device, then click Update Driver.

Download the latest BIOS for the L406M on the Asus support website, make sure to keep laptop plugged into its charger during the update.

Run Windows Update Troubleshooter: Settings → Update & Security → Troubleshoot → Windows Update → Run

Run system file check: Open Command Prompt (Admin): code "sfc / scannow"

Then code: "DISM/ Online / Cleanup-Image / RestoreHealth"

Run Windows memory diagnostics: Press Win + R, type "mdsched.exe", then restart and scan.

If errors are found, go to the back of your laptop, open up the casing, and either reseat ram if you can remove it, or replace the RAM module if reseating does not work.
