When playing videos, music, etc. from Asus L406M, is the audio distorted or leaky? Use this troubleshooting guide to help diagnose why.
Speakers May Be Worn or Damaged
If the speakers are worn or damaged, it may lead to the audio getting distorted.
Solution: Check and see if your headphones are damaged. If so, replace them with new ones and check the sound quality again.
Volume Is Too Loud
The volume on the device may be too loud, which can distort the audio
Solution: Turn down the volume on the device, and test the audio again.
Computer Audio Driver Is Outdated
The audio driver of the device may be outdated.
Solution: Go to the manufacturer's website (where the audio driver is from) and check if there's an update available. If so, download the updated audio driver and test the audio again.
Faulty Audio Enhancement Software
Audio enhancement, while helpful at times, can conflict with other software, which can affect the overall sound quality of the device.
Solution: Turn off Audio Enhancements
- Click on "Start" or the Windows icon on the keyboard
- Type "Control Panel" into search bar and open it
- Type “Audio” into Control Panel's search bar
- Below Sound, click on “Manage Audio Devices”
- Double-click on "Speakers"
- Click on "Advance" tab
- Scroll down until you find “Enable Audio Enhancements”. If this is checked, uncheck it, and test the audio again
Interference From Other Electronics
The presence of other electronics, such as smartphones, being too close to the device might lead to the audio distortion.
Solution: Ensure other electronic devices (such as smartphones) are not too close to the device, then test the audio again.
