Device Won’t Power On

Screen remains dark despite pushing buttons to power on and plugging into a charger.

Incorrect Charger

Android phones use a Micro-USB charger, make sure the one you are using is compatible with your device.

Not Enough Charge

Plug in your phone for 10 minutes and attempt to power on. A phone will not power up if it doesn’t have enough battery life from the battery being completely drained.

Phone Defect or Bad Battery

If your phone still won’t power on after the above steps you may have a defective battery. See a retail location for replacement options. Review the Alcatel OneTouch Evolve Battery Removal guide when replacing battery.

Camera Won’t Focus, Debris on Lens, or Lens is Cracked

The camera attempts to focus on the image you wish to capture, but will focus on the obstruction on the lens instead. This is most likely caused by debris on the screen, a cracked lens or water damage.

Clean Lens

See Alcatel OneTouch Evolve Camera Replacement guide on how to disassemble the phone to access the interior lens of the camera. Clean the debris from lens with a microfiber cloth. Follow the procedure to reassemble the camera unit.

Cracked Camera Lens

If the camera is cracked, a replacement camera should be installed. Purchase a new camera unit and follow the instructions in the Alcatel OneTouch Evolve Camera Replacement guide on how to replace this component.

Water Damage, Condensation, or Bad Seal

If there is condensation, the camera lens will appear to be foggy. See Alcatel OneTouch Evolve Camera Replacement guide on how to disassemble the phone to access the interior lens of the camera. Clean with a microfiber cloth. If there is water damage or evidence of a bad seal, purchase a new camera unit and follow instructions in the guide on replacing the camera.

Error Message: Invalid SIM

Phone displays message “Invalid SIM” when trying to make a call or send a text message. Error message will be displayed in red font on the device home screen.

No SIM Card

You may not have a SIM card in your device. Visit a retail location for your service provider and purchase a new Sim card. Have this card activated by your provider. Follow the Alcatel OneTouch Evolve Sim Card Replacement guide on how to replace a SIM card.

Deactivated SIM Card

Visit a retail location for your service provider and purchase a new Sim card. Have this card activated by your provider. Follow the repair Alcatel OneTouch Evolve Sim Card Replacement guide on how to insert a SIM card.

Phone Won’t Hold a Charge

Phone has a very short battery life or the phone won’t charge when plugged into charger.

Defective Charger

It is possible that you have the wrong charger or a defective charger. There may be frayed wires in the charger for various reasons that would cause it to no longer provide power to the phone. Purchase a Micro-USB charger for your android device.

Defective Charger Port

A defective charging port can block the flow of energy from the charger to the battery. When this happens, and the doubt of a defective charging cord has been eliminated, the defective port needs to be replaced.

Frozen Phone

Phone becomes unresponsive during use of device, phone won’t respond to the menu buttons or the power down button being pressed.

Software Not Up to Date

Phone freezing can occur when the device is not up to date with the most recent software.

Follow the Steps Below to Update Your Phone:

1. Click the Settings button on your list of apps.

2. Scroll down to the System section

3. Click on “About Phone”

4. Click on “System Update”

5. Click on “Check for Software Updates"

Install any updates necessary.

Malicious Software Installed on Phone

It is possible that there is software installed that could be causing your phone to freeze. To repair your device, you will need to back up all contacts, pictures and music before performing a factory reset. Follow the instructions below to perform the data back up and factory reset:

Data Backup

1. Click the settings icon on your list of apps.

2. Scroll down to the Personal section.

3. Click on “Backup and Reset”

4. Click the checkbox “Backup my data”

Factory Reset

1. Click the settings icon on your list of apps.

2. Scroll down to the Personal section.

3. Click “Backup and Reset.

4. Scroll down to “Factory Data Reset” and click that menu option.

5. Click “Reset Phone” at the bottom of the screen.

Master Reset Required

If your phone remained frozen, follow the next 3 options.

Reset Device

Hold down the power button, located on the top right side of the phone, and select power down. Allow the phone to remain powered down for a few minutes in case of overheating.

Hard Reset Device

Hold down the power button and the home button for one second and select power down. Allow the phone to remain powered down for a few minutes in case of overheating.

Master Reset

Follow the instructions in the Alcatel OneTouch Evolve Battery Removal guide to remove the battery. Wait one minute and re-insert the battery.

After you reset your phone and it is functional again, follow the steps above to back up your data to avoid data loss in the future.

I can't record music from my computer to phone there is no files shown or open can this be fixed
