A fancy texting device, huh? Yeah that ‘s no fun. Sounds like when you reconnected the battery and the speaker part, could be that the seal is not entirely secure. You stated that it took of time to put it back together, which sometimes in the process, the right amount of pressure and/or screws are not placed correctly. Now, in the case that the part you got in indeed faulty, obviously you’d have to swap it out. Either way, you’d have to reopen the phone and see what the problem is. What I’d recommend, is to get another speaker part, just be careful with the TouchID, since you can disconnected by mistake and create another problem. Seal it back up with the help of an iSlack if you have one. If not, just gently apply pressure along the edge to make sure it’s enclosed correctly. Any questions, let me know. Alex H.

Sounds like the problem is more with the digitizer than the battery. Just a couple of questions: Did both problems showed up at the same time or separate? About how long have you had the problem? How long have you had the phone for?

Wow… that does look like quite the damage. It could be that some moisture or other elements got into the screen, since it was cracked; causing the damage you now have. My guess is that the digitizer is now damaged, where before it was just the glass. For the repair and time, it’s just worth more to get a newer one. Installing another OS onto the phone is not impossible, but can be tricky. I could write out a guide for you on how to do it, but fair warning, can be tedious and does require a bit of knowledge on sideloading an OS onto it. If you are not willing or able to do this process, my recommendation would be to get a Pixel 3A or 4A, which has the basics of a Pixel for a more affordable price. I’d stay more with a 3A for now because again, is more affordable, and will continue on receiving updates for at least two years I believe. If you want the full experience of a Pixel, then either the 3 or 4 would be your best bet. The Pixel 4 is a bit more right now, as is the newest addition to the line. The Pixel 3 retains some of the most beloved features of the previous Pixels. Unlimited Photo Storage on Google Photos, prerelease of Beta software and more. Any questions, let me know. Alex H.

There are two options available: (1) Go to Settings, Apps, Google Play Music. You should have “Uninstall” available. Tap on that, it will ask you to confirm. Select YES, and that should be easiest way. (2) Same steps as the before, however, if it states “Disable”, that on that, and it will reset the app to factory settings, purge the cache, data and update history. Google is pushing updates to this app to be allowed to be uninstall, by making it not essential to the system. So, step one should be all you need. Any questions, let me know. Alex H.

So as long as the device is not locked to Verizon, you should be able to just take the SIM card that was used on a GSM phone (AT&T, T-Mobile) and work just fine, without having to replace the mother board. This phone is LTE capable, which means that can work world-wide with a GSM signal and SIM card, again, so as long as the device is not locked to Verizon. At this stage, since the device is almost 6 years old, I would seriously consider just getting a newer Galaxy device for a cheaper price. The “A” and “J” series are quite affordable, specially three year old ones. The problem with switching the mother board, is when it comes to retaining the IMEI information, and is not worth the headache. Plain suggestion: try placing the SIM card first onto the device and make a test call. If it does not work, then we know you have other options. Any questions, let me know. Alex H.

It could be due to a few factors. (1) The connection from the new screen to the board may not be fully connected. Maybe you need to press it in a bit more, until you hear a click or snap sound. Don’t force it, but try that first. (2) Either the board port for the screen or the screen connector could be damaged. If it’s the board, then you will need to replace that, but to which at that point, you might as well just get another device if you prefer. If it’s the screen itself, see bellow. (3) If the screen is not officially authorized by Huawei, such as getting from a third-party seller, that can cause a problem. If you did however, purchase it from Huawei directly, and you’re still within the window period of a return, then you could send it back for another one. Any questions, please let me know. Alex H.

I would not recommend that, due to the possibility of a shorting something out, specially the battery. It is highly recommended that the device you will be working on is to be powered down. As an optional thing, which I also recommend is to ground yourself with an Anti-Static Wrist Strap, to better protect both yourself and your device. When you are working on the device, be care to disconnect the battery without puncturing it, as that is the fastest way to start a fire. So, again, power down the device, if not possible let the battery deplete. Then open the device, disconnect the screen and disconnect the battery. Any questions, let me know. Alex H.

Ok, it could be a couple of things: (1) Check for the latest software. Sometimes an update that is available may have a patch to the problem, if it’s a known issue and a solution was found. (2) Find out the screen mode, if it’s set to Standard or Zoom. Sometimes, when on Zoom, certain functions may not work as well, because the area where you press has been slightly moved to accommodate the change. If Zoom is on and don’t need it for everyday use, turn it off, restart the phone and that could help. (3) If AssistiveTouch is enabled, that can also cause the screen to not act as expected. You may need to press double to on the option that you want to select something, instead of once. Go to Settings, Accessibility, Touch, AssistiveTouch, turn Off. Again, if this setting is on, you may need to tap twice on everything in order to get to it and turn it off. While you’re there, also make sure that 3D Touch & Haptic Touch is disabled. Sometimes that option can cause problems too, when selecting items/options on...

I’d highly recommend it, since it not only makes the separation of the screen easier, but also prevents the breaking of the screen an other components from using too much force. Word of caution: Whether you use a heat gun or a hair dryer, keep the heat moving along the edges and not stationary on one spot, as it can cause damage to the screen and other parts of the phone. If you have an iOpener, place it for a few seconds on the edges of the device every few seconds. This also should help opening the device with more ease. Hope that helps.
