Saiba maisThe top of the display has to be kind of "slid in" first. You'll notice little tabs on the top of the display that are meant to sit under the top of the frame. Then lower the rest of the screen and screw in Pentalope screws.

Saiba maisDo you recall the milliamp hours (mAh) of the replacement you purchased? If you bought a battery from the "bargain bin" it could have been so cheap because it's mAh's are actually lower than the factory one. I suggest looking for a battery with at least 5800 or higher.
Saiba maisWell, if you don't have a backup saved in iTunes to restore from you're out of luck for the most part. The other option is to shell out a hefty fee to send the device into a data recovery lab.
Saiba maisTo be completely honest, Kindles are so inexpensive that you're truly better off replacing the entire unit with a new one. Repairing these devices costs the same if not more than what they are worth.
Saiba maisThe ribbon cables are most likely pinched in some way. I would return the shop and demand that it be fixed. It is also possible that the FPC connectors were damaged while installing the new display.
Saiba maisThe optical drive most likely needs replacing. These systems are quite old now and the optical "eye" is either dirty or plain ol' tired from it's age. The drive will detect the presence of a disc regardless of being able to read it or not. Unless, of course, it's completely broken and won't physically function at all.
Saiba maisThis is a very particular issue you're having. You have tried all the troubleshooting steps that I would have followed myself. All but one, anyway. It is rumored that storing your phone and/or cable in a humid enviroment can cause corrosion on the lightning connector. This would then in turn damage the lightning connector. While I can't explain the sporadic battery percentage fluxations (May be board level issue), I would attempt to replace the lightning connector assembly. It is possible that no matter what cable you use, your lightning connector isn't making good contact. It could just be dirty as well. Another thing comes to mind as I type this.. Double check the battery connector contacts. The guide can be found here. If you want to save a few extra bucks and are up to the task...try scrubbing the connector with something like MG Chemicals Isopropyl Alcohol. Be sure to let it dry completely before use. Ultrasonic cleaners are great for cleaning electronics, too. Be sure to use distilled water only if...

I was using this to walk me through repairing a clients iPod touch with no rear iSight.. I discovered that the rear housing I had on hand was for the model with the iSight.. I can't find a replacement housing for this model A1509 to save my life!
