Hello and thanks for reading my profile!

My name is Renee, and I am a student at The University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama. I am in my first year of the Master of English program with my concentration being Technical Writing. I chose this as my major because the field of technical writing is growing rapidly, and there is a wide variety of career opportunities. I am unsure which type of technical writing job I would like to pursue, but if opportunity arises, I would like to work from home.

I don't have much experience in repairs, but, with the help of online guides, I have managed to replace the wax ring for a toilet, repair a kitchen faucet, and install new door knobs. I also crochet and sew, so I have made a few repairs to clothing, blankets, toys, etc.

I am currently a member of the Society of Technical Communication, Athens State University chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, and the Athens State University Alumni Association. In high school, I was a member of the National Beta Club as well as the National Honor Society.

I have experience as a newspaper reporter and front page layout designer. I have also written a fiction book that was published several years ago. I have written and submitted short stories and poems that were accepted and published in online writer forums.

In fourth grade through tenth, I placed first in my school's 4-h public speaking contest as well as in the county each year. I also served as president of the Winston County 4-H Council and received the Junior Leadership award.

From 1993 until 2006, I served as Cub Master for Pack 76 Cub Scouts. During that time, I received the Cub Master Award and the District Award of Merit (the highest honor for an adult leader).

I also won awards at the Cullman County Fair for some crocheted items I made.
