@beta2k, There's definitely a slew of issues going on here. First, I would take the SSD out and run a malware scan on it from another computer. I think Malwarebytes can scan external drives (maybe?). In regards to the RAM, with the BIOS beeps, slow speed, and Finder issues, I would just go ahead and get new RAM even if it technically boots up with those sticks. Get Crucial or Corsair RAM for Mac, I have good luck with those on the MacBooks. With the power issue, either the battery is shot, or the Magsafe DC-in board is. Either part is replaceable, with the latter being far more difficult, as you can see by the guide below. If you’re handy and comfortable and decide to go with the Magsafe DC-in board replacement, you might as well replace the thermal paste on the CPU at the same time. This will improve thermals and speed. In regards to the random pressing on the case and causing a restart, I’m not sure what’s causing that… You’re probably going to have to do some further investigating to see what components...

Nima, Sometimes the Serial Number can disappear upon certain replacements to a MacBook, like a logic board replacement. However, I’m mostly concerned about the hardware configuration and I want to help you confirm that your hardware accurately being displayed. Go into Terminal and run this command: ioreg -l | awk '/IOPlatformSerialNumber/ { print $4; }' See if it prints the serial number. Additionally, you can download Coconut Battery which displays the Serial Number. Go here to download it. From another forum: “If that doesn't return anything, then you'll likely need to re-serialize your board, which would require Apple's Blank Board serializer, which is normally only available to Apple and authorized repair centers. You may want to try calling around to a few around you just to see if any are willing to do that for you.” Let me know if this helps, -Alex

Macisgr8, See SMC Problem Reference Code PFM 006. They go over the same error code but with another Mac. It looks like either its moisture-related, or virus related. To be safe, follow the instructions by DanJ on the thread I linked above, and then once you reinstall the OS, try to run Apple Hardware Test again. Unfortunately, the code is probably unique to each ventilator since the manual says “enter the code supplied by SLE into the ventilator via the controller services panel to activate the required calibration program.” Maybe see if you have a local distributor, ask the previous owner, or call +44 (0) 208 681 1414

Emily, With these newer MacBooks, the keyboards can sometimes be very problematic. The best way to clean the underside of the keys is to use a can of compressed air.
