Well, the click wheel started acting squirrelly, so I thought it MUST be a bad click wheel.

I ordered a click wheel and followed the instructions on how to disassemble the iPod, but I couldn't figure out how to get the old click wheel out.

I went online to the FAQ section of iFixit to see how to remove the old click wheel, but instead, I found that sometimes the battery will swell up and cause the click wheel to 'get funky'. I looked more closely at the battery and sure enough, it looked as though it could use a little diet and exercise. I ordered a replacement battery from iFixit and VIOLA!! It is now fixed.

Moral of the story is... read all instructions and how to's from iFixit before ordering parts and starting on your own. The resources on iFixit are really amazing! Thanks iFixit !!

Now, on to the project of fixing the optical drive on my iBook, putting a bigger HD in my Powerbook... hey, does iFixit have the solution to World Peace posted yet?
