Introdução
Use this guide to remove your Essential Phone's LCD screen—either to replace it because it's broken, or simply to get it out of the way so you can make repairs to other components.
Warning: Because of the strong adhesive securing the display, minimal clearance for inserting your tools, and very high heat required, there's a good chance of accidentally damaging the display during this procedure. If you're replacing a broken display, then you don't have to worry—but for all other repairs, work very carefully, and be prepared to replace the display afterward if necessary.

If possible, drain the battery before disassembly. When the battery is charged, there's increased risk of a dangerous thermal event if the battery is overheated or damaged during repairs.

Heat the perimeter of the display to soften the adhesive securing it.

If available, use a hot plate or heat pad. Place the Essential Phone face-down and heat it to 85° C for at least 15 minutes.

Otherwise, use a heat gun to evenly heat the entire perimeter of the display until it's too hot to touch. Try to maintain a high temperature for 15-20 minutes—but beware that without exact control over the temperature, you can easily destroy the display.

While the phone is still hot, apply a heavy-duty suction cup to the top half of the display.

After positioning the suction cup, gently press down, and then close the handle to securely fasten the suction cup to the display surface.

Insert a halberd spudger no more than 1 mm under the display, and cut the adhesive all along the top edge.

Use the point of a spudger to pry the display cable pop connector straight up from its socket.

Hi, do I need glue to put it back? Cause when I removed it, I also had to removed all the glue/rubber in the contours.
My screen came with adhesive tape that was white but after doing some research I heard white tape lets in light and impacts the quality of the picture so I purchased 1mm wide tape from amazon.com. Worked great no light leaks.

Is it possible to replace only the glass?
The screen/digitizer can be had for ~$40 off ebay, at that price you might as well replace both. They’re very easy to replace together,
Excellent guide, total repair time for me was ~45 minutes.
Heating step seems excessive. The phone I repaired only required the use of a heat gun for 5 minutes before the screen came up very easily.
my screen came off with almost no heat and there was no adhesive to be found! where should i replace the adhesive to re install the screen?
I just replaced the screen on my Essential phone, and it was considerably easier than what this tutorial made it seem.
For example, no heat gun was necessary. I did use a hair dryer for a minute, but considering the ease of screen removal, believe even that was unnecessary. Just insert a pick in the speaker slot at the top of the screen and start "cutting" away!
I used black T-7000 glue.
For an excellent, short video tutorial, look up "Essential phone screen replacement" by Real World Review on YouTube. It is what I followed and gave me confidence to replace the screen myself (I had never done so on a phone before).
There seems to be a lot of variability in the strength of the glue—the specimen used for creating this guide was very stubborn! Glad yours was easier. Also keep in mind, this guide is designed to help you remove the screen intact in case you’re just trying to make other repairs, such as replacing the battery. The YouTube guide you mention assumes the screen is already destroyed (or at least that you don’t mind destroying it). Congrats on a successful repair!
Any ideas on why screen is irresponsible (with touch) with a new screen? I’ve tried 3 different screens with different vendors and all of the screens turn on perfectly, but touch is irresponsible. I have to use a mouse with an adapter to operate the phone. I tried restarting, resetting, and battery unplug and reconnect but nothing worked.
How to put the another display. I don't know. Iam new to it
