Description of the System :

The D.O.R.C. Diathermy System provides high-frequency diathermy for highly selective burn placement for anterior and posterior segment surgery. The RF energy is produced by a crystalcontrolled solid-state oscillator at a frequency of 13.56 Mhz. The energy intensity delivered to the electrode can be varied continuously from 0.2 watts to approximately 12 watts. The output is regulated so that the RF energy remains constant at the preselected value. The output of the Diathermy System can only be activated via the footswitch at preset value.

Controls and Indicators :

    1. Preset knob @:

The preset knob is used to select the preset value of the available diathermy power. This upper limit is adjustable from 0 to 100% of full power. Rotating to the right will increase the power and rotating to the left will decrease the power.

    1. ON/OFF button ©:

Use the ON/OFF button to activate the Diathermy System. When the System is activated, the indicated located on the ON/OFF button will light. Once the System has been swiched ON, it remains in a 'standby' mode until the surgeon activates the module using the footswitch.

    1. Instrument port ©:

The instrument port is located at the front panel of the Diathermy System. To connect a diathermy accessory to this port, align the male plug of the accessory to the female chassis connector and insert it. To remove an accessory, depress the locking mechanism release located on the top of the female chassis connector.

Operating Procedure :

    1. Select the diathermy accessory to be used and assemble it.
    1. Connect the cable for the accessory to the diathermy port on the front of the console.
    1. Turn On the Diathermy System using the ON/OFF button.
    1. Set the desired power using the Up and Down preset buttons.
