HP Envy 17 Leap Motion Repair

The HP Envy 17 Leap Motion was released for presale in October 2013 and was the first notebook with a built-in 3D motion sensor. The CEO of Leap Motion, Michael Buckwald, told TechNewsWorld that this device was “designed for people who are looking for a new notebook and interested in having the latest technology”. Leap Motion was already producing standalone sensors, but integrating the sensor into a notebook was an exciting innovation.

However, critics argued that while it was exciting new technology, it lacked usability due to the lack of available software that functioned with it. The HP Envy Leap Motion also fell short in this regard by providing limited functionality of the integrated sensor. Besides the integrated Leap Motion sensor, the HP Envy 17 Leap Motion is virtually identical to the HP Envy 17 TouchSmart.

The HP Envy 17 Leap Motion is a 17.3-inch silver laptop made by Hewlett-Packard with an integrated Leap Motion sensor strip. The 3D gesture sensor is embedded in the palm rest and can be identified as a 120mm black, glossy plastic strip located to the right of the touchpad.
