O Moto G 3ª Geração foi lançado em julho de 2015. Ele tem uma tela HD (720p) de 5 polegadas de Gorilla Glass 3, um processador de 1.4 GHz Snapdragon 410, um máximo de 16GB de armazenamento, 2 GB de RAM, um sistema operacional Android e tem as dimensões de 5,59 x 2,85 x 0,48 polegadas. O armazenamento também pode ser expandido até 128GB com um cartão micro SD removível. O telefone tem uma câmera traseira de 13 MP e uma câmera frontal de 5 MP. Este Moto G suporta 4G LTE, tem uma bateria de 2470 mAh e também apresenta um grau limitado de resistência à água.

O Moto G3 vem em diversas cores, incluindo preto, branco, azul e rosa. O telefone possui parte traseira emborrachada com uma câmera no centro. A câmera está posicionada num elemento oval relativamente suave com uma leve cavidade, que comporta o logo da Motorola. Imediatamente abaixo da câmera está o flash ou a lanterna.
