Removing Metal Covers On Logic Board

Hi everyone. I am attempting to repair an iPhone that has water damage. It powers on and everything but the backlight doesn't work. I've read that the culprit could possibly be the backlight ic coil and I understand it to be under one of the metal shields. I was able to remove two shields from the logic board but I cant figure out how to remove the shield that covers the IC coil. I'm now assuming that this one is perhaps soldered to the board but I wanted to make sure before I attempted to remove it with a soldering iron. Thanks!

Are you sure it isn't just the front screen display?

No I'm honestly not sure. I just kept reading about the backlight coil being the issue so I assumed that was the issue. But you're right. It'd definitely be easier to replace the screen assembly first and see what happens. Thanks! I'd still like to know a little bit more about removing that pesky shield if anyone knows anything about it. Just for future reference. Thanks!

You have to use a flat tip soldering iron and desolder the shield over the coil by prying up on the shield as you heat the solder joints. bend it enough to get clearance to remove the coil. after repairing coil bend the shield back down and resolder joints.
