If your display is not turning on, but the phone shows signs of life (vibrations, sounds, or charging heat), try these steps:
- Force Restart: Hold the Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously for 15 seconds. This can clear a system freeze that is preventing the screen from "waking up."
- Check for Backlight/Image: Shine a bright flashlight directly at the screen in a dark room. If you can see very faint icons or text, your backlight has failed, but the LCD is working.
- Inspect the Charging Port: If the battery is completely flat and the port is dirty, it won't take a charge. Clean the port with a wooden toothpick and try a different cable/wall adapter.
- Reseat the Display Cable: If the phone was recently dropped, the internal display flex cable may have come loose. This requires opening the device to reconnect it.
- Test with a New Screen: If the phone vibrates but the screen remains black after a force restart, the display panel itself is likely dead and needs to be replaced.

Are there other signs of life, such as chimes when you plug in the charger or power it on? In other words, does it seem like it's working except for the display? Do you see anything at any time, such as a manufacturer's logo when it first powers on, or is it always blank?
Have you tried plugging in an external monitor, such as a TV connected to an HDMI port? Do you have a picture on that? (You may have to use a set of keys to activate an external monitor.)

Are there any signs of life, such as chimes/LEDs when you plug the charger? Or is there a sign of life when you connect to a monitor via HDMI?
