May the the board supporting Thunderbolt/USB ports be replaced?

Lost power for 4 days after Hurricane Milton. When the power was restored, my 2022 Mac Studio M1 Max emitted a loud bang. I discovered all the Thunderbolt and USB ports we no longer functional. Bluetooth, ethernet, and HDMI remained functional.

I assume these ports reside on the same board. May this board be replaced or repaired?

Well… Apple does offer a public service manual now Mac Studio (2022) Repair Manual

Within it we can see there is a diagnostic process as shown here Mac Modular Desktops Troubleshooting Input/Output Issues let’s start there.

You may need to open the system up and inspect the logic board to see if you can identify what is damaged. Take some pictures so we can see as well posting them here.

Thank you so much, Dan. This is encouraging. I will investigate and post progress.

I failed to mention the unit boots right up and prior to my taking it to a local Apple Authorized repair shop, I was able to work with it using the bluetooth keyboard and mouse/trackpad connection. Unfortunately, when I got the unit back from the repair shop, the keyboard and trackpad never connect, leaving me stuck at the login screen.

From my iMac and iPad, I am able to connect to the Mac Studio via bluetooth but I do not know what I am able to do with it from there.

Is it possible to control the Mac Studio from another Mac device and get it to accept connection from bluetooth devices so I can log in again?

Thank you again for the recommendations.

@rodney71740 - You’ll need to remotely connect instead of file access which I’m thinking that’s where you are now. Review this Allow a remote computer to access your Mac hopefully you can access your Studio. The shop I’m afraid did you in. Did they even tell you what they found?

Yes, the shop performed diagnostics and confirmed all the Thunderbolt and USB ports were not responsive/functional. The shop owner conceded replacing the part(s) he believed would likely be necessary was beyond the level of complexity they handle.

I did verify the unit still booted up and I was able to log into it with the same keyboard and mouse when I brought it back home. Satisfied it might be worth pursuing the more involved repair, I shut it down and used the keyboard and trackpad with my iMac in the meantime.

Perhaps this is the reason the unit no longer connects to the Keyboard and trackpad even when I disconnect and "forget" them on the iMac.

I have hope.

To my knowledge there is no real way to repair a MAC studio without serious soldering knowledge and another old identical MAC studio and even then there are often software issues(thanks Apple). So in theory yes it can be repaired in practice very very difficult.
