Why do jar contents not blend up even though the blades spin round?
My blender stopped working. The blades still spin around but the contents in the jar just spin around too without getting blended up. I hadn't noticed any reduction in its ability to blend ingredients prior to this. I took it to a local Repair Cafe where someone safety tested it (it passed) and then sharpened the blades. This has not fixed the problem.

It could be that you are trying to blend things too tough for the blender
Have you been blending the same things then it broke or did you switch up ingredients and then it broke?

I should have said that the ingredients I was trying to blend for a smoothie were the same as every morning. It worked for years and now it doesn't.

There isn't really a lot more detail to give. They used a PAT tester to check it was safe (as they do on all electrical items before working on them). It passed. Then one of the repairers sharpened the blades. He didn't open up the base of the blender to look at the mechanism inside.
The blender is 9 years old and was used nearly every day so it might just have worn itself out!
