Audio Jack replacement Question

Good day gents,

I have an Macbook pro a2338 in for service. I have the majority of the board disassembled. All cables disconnected, motherboard out. Part of the audio jack is adhered to the bottom of the casing. My question is, whats the best way to go about getting this out? I can't seem to find a guide anywhere and I've been going off full disassembly videos, but course he doesn't take out the audio jack. Has anyone completed this project before? If so, or do you know the best way to go back getting that adhesive loose to remove the full jack for replacement? I have all the screws out and cables disconnected, I believe its just being held in by the lower portion that is adhered. I only done screen replacement on these.

TIA, guys.

First off here’s the Apple service document 2020 13” MacBook Pro (M1)

Sadly the headphone jack is not an Apple serviceable part (I know! It should be!) you’ll need the uppercase assembly, so unless you have an alternative source for this custom part you’re SOL!

As to getting it out Apple uses hot glue to glue them in, so you’ll need to apply heat to the case but you do need to be careful! As you don’t want to melt or damage the heat sensitive parks like the keyboard and the TouchBar. Using aluminum foil to shield the areas you don’t want to heat and using a heat gun it what I would use heating it up as quickly as possible and then pulling it out with a bit of help of a good screwdriver wedging under it. Then quickly cool the area.

@dshort1988 - As an option you could use a USB DAC unit which has its own headphone jack or even output to an optical connection (bi-directionally as well)

I found the audio jack on eBay and got it fixed for him. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.
