Need some help troubleshooting liquid damaged 2019 MacBook Pro 16 inch

Block Image

Bought this used liquid damaged 2019 MacBook 16 inch($50.00) , would like to learn how to properly test and fix this sort of problems. Have already taken apart and clean up the logic board and reassemble. Getting a reading on the Satechi USB-C power meter or 5.10V and 0.01A. If anyone could provide some further troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

Well. First thing is first. You're stuck on 5 Volts and drawing almost no current. Have you made sure that this isn't an issue with a bad part? I see it's back in the housing for this picture. These newer Macs can be weird about booting when some peripherals are not connected, but I would disconnect anything not vital for the Mac to boot and see if that changes anything.

Really the only things here I would consider necessary are the USB C boards (known good ones if possible), and maybe a battery (but only because these can be weird about booting when one is not connected). A display is nice as well if fans are disconnected so you can see if it's booting.

Unless you know it's a board issue already (you didn't mention any other troubleshooting steps). Where was the liquid damage you cleaned up?

Hi Alisha C

The only troubleshooting steps I have perform thus far was taking it apart and cleaning the logic board really good with 99% alcohol, I inspect visually the board, can not see anything burned or corroded. I waited 5 days before putting it back together to be sure, but the reading of the sate chi power meter is the same as it was before I took it apart, so nothing has really change on that regard. Liquid damage was water. Liquid damage was located near the usb-c ports for sure. I thought about buying new ones and getting them replaced but was wondering if there is a way to test them? maybe with a multimeter?
