On/Off switch repair- seems simple?

This switch is a multi-function slider type. Each row pair is either wired in a pair or are independent. Then these pairs are shorted across to its neighbor pair. This allows a simple way to offer different programming of the puppets actions.

It appears the slide switch offers four conditions plus off? It also looks like a few blades are two rows wide.

So… you’ll need to either rebuild the slider switch or replace it.

I would carefully draw out a model of the switch and how it functions, then looking at the copper traces and the solder joints how the switch is mounted to the logic. Knowing what the different positions offer can also help what is the off position and the other position options are.

To understand what the switch is doing, we need to understand the circuit. I've made a diagram to help you

U3 is a 7805, which is a +5V regulator (as long as Vin is less than 28v, Vout will be 5V).

PIn1 and PIn2 are the voltage inputs from the power supply. PIn 1 should be ground and PIn 2 should be V+. Therefore, we can assume the ground is always connected to the regulator and the voltage to the Vin of the regualtor is switched. However, there are also other things we need to switch.

I think the best way to continue is to have you upload a picture of the broken switch's metal plate on top of the switch contacts left on the board so we can see which contacts would be bridged in each position.
