How do you change the glass on an Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner

How do you change the glass on an Epson V600 Scanner? The repair for the broken hinge was very helpful in removing the lid and locating the screws to remove the glass assembly. It also recommends leaving the ribbon cable attached, but to change the glass assembly will require the removal of the switches in the front of the machine. It looks like the ribbon cable is attached to those switches. So does the ribbon cable need to be disconnected? If so is there anything special I need to know to disconnect it? Or can the switches in the front of the glass assembly be removed leaving the ribbon cable attached to the switches. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Ifixit fatures an overview of commonly found connectors in electronic equipment. Ribbon cables are often attached with ZIF connectors. Are you able to post pictures of the ribbon cable and its attachment to the PCB?

For what it's worth, I will also need to replace the V600 scanner glass plate too because of a glass defect and scratches. Unfortunately it appears that the glass place is no longer available as a service part?

From Epson's site, there's a distributor of the service part from whom I just ordered one (oddly by phone) yesterday (Washington State, US):

It's item #100 in the exploded parts diagram. Cost ~$55US +S&H. "1602898 housing assy., upper (includes glass) $54.25 each – special order"

Much cheaper than a new scanner, of course. Mine is ~13 years old and has served me well.
