MacBook Pro battery not charging after screen replacement

I have a 2017 13" Macbook Pro with touch bar and retina display. I cracked the LCD so I purchased a replacement screen and installed it. I cracked the screen maybe a year ago when I dropped the laptop a couple of feet (butterfingers) but it was mostly fine so i never bothered replacing it; however a few days ago it finally went mostly black, despite not being dropped or experiencing any blow that i am aware of.

Anyway, first and last step of the process was to disconnect battery by disconnect the ribbon cable. The replacement screen is working fine but now the laptop will not turn on without being plugged in.

I can power it up once it is plugged in, but now it seems to not recognize the battery at all -- the battery icon in the top bar just has a little x through it, and it says that the "capacity is significantly reduced." Battery was fine before the switch. I have double checked the connection of the ribbon cable and it does not appear to be damaged.

There are a couple posts on here with relevant info:

Mac won’t turn on after screen replacement

After screen replacement battery not showing or charging

However I am having a second problem that neither of those mention - the Touch Bar is not lighting up or responding. Could these be related to the same issue, or did I just bone two different aspects of the installation?

I have so far tried an SMC reset to no luck, will try a PRAM reset momentarily. Any other advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi Dan thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately I’ve really screwed the pooch here — after I shut it down to attempt a PRAM reset I’ve not been able to get it to boot up again, plugged in or not. Any thoughts on what I might try?

@kimwg - Ouch! I think you need local help here. You need to probe the logic board checking the voltages with a DVM, which requires reading the schematics and board view drawings.

Nuts. Thanks for your help.
