Keyboard and trackpad not detected

Ok so I have a MacBook Air early 2015 A1466 running Monterey OS.

I had to replace the logic board as it had dodgy WiFi socket and EFI lock. After replacing it the keyboard and trackpad are now not detected, not working at all apart from power button.

I tried resetting PRAM and SMC with external keyboard but that made no difference. So I replaced the trackpad and cable as I was informed that was the problem. But that hasn’t worked either.

I ran diagnostics and it’s saying there is an error with keyboard, trackpad, power management and SMC. Would it be worth switching EFI chip and WiFi socket from new board onto the old one?

Does anyone have any idea how to fix coz I’m at a loss now and nothing I’ve found online has helped.

Sorry, your issue is within the trackpad and/or the trackpad to logic board cable. The keyboard is held as hostage by the trackpads connection. Review your connections as showmen in this guide MacBook Air 13" Early 2015 Trackpad Replacement and as you have a second system see if replacing the trackpad solved things.

In any case the EFI chip is not the issue here, and SMC is failing as it’s not able to access the trackpads sensors.

I’ve tried 2 cables and 2 trackpads both same outcome. I know the efi isn’t the problem. I’m just thinking if the keyboard and trackpad worked with the old logic board then maybe putting it back in would fix it but I’d have to switch efi chip to old board as it was locked. As far as I know the new board is good as external keyboard and mouse work fine with it.

@dfgv1jfsxs5i62x - EFI (firmware lock) has nothing to do with the trackpad or keyboard or their cabling. So I don’t see that changing anything. Firmware lock is a logic board issue only.

Then you have either a messed up connector or you got two bad trackpads.

You misunderstand me. I got given a locked mba, keyboard and trackpad worked fine.

I replaced the just the board. That’s when the keyboard and track stopped working. I never removed the cable or trackpad when replacing the board aside from the connector to the board, so there’s no reason to think they were damaged or anything. But I got a new cable anyway, that didn’t work. Got a new trackpad that came with another cable, that didn’t work.

I’m not saying efi has anything to do with the keyboard and trackpad. I’m just pointing out that if there’s something wrong with the new board then I’d have to put the old one back in, but would have to swap the efi chip other wise I’d be back to square one with the efi lock.

Aside from that, all cables are good, connections are good, is there a way to test if the trackpad is defective externally?

@dfgv1jfsxs5i62x - Let’s give this a try, using your external keyboard open up about this Mac and click on the System Report opening the hardware viewer. Jump down to USB, look for the keyboard / trackpad entry, click on it and take a snapshot of the lower information panel across both trackpads is the version info the same?
