I tried to clean my chromebook and water slipped in

I tried to clean my chromebook with a spray bottle with soap in it and I only cleaned my keyboard and touch pad. I think water slipped in and now my keys are clicking on their own. Not working. Or acting as other keys. My touch pad is also glitched and sometimes does not move.

Jovani Puni, Unfortunately, you probably sprayed the case with the bottle, and not use the bottle to spray the liquid onto a cloth (best would be microfibre cloth), then use the cloth to clean the surfaces.

Spraying the case, trackpad, keyboard, display, etc. WILL cause liquid to seep in! That’s just the nature of water.

What you’ll have to do, is to disconnect power and turn the device off. Open it up, carefully, by following guides if you’re inexperienced and then you’ll have to take it completely apart. All boards should be removed, trackpad taken out and if the keyboard (I’ve never worked on that device personally) is removable, then do so.

All the boards should be cleaned with distilled water, with a brush (preferably ESD safe, but a toothbrush will do). DO NOT use tap water, as that contains minerals and other “contaminants” that will prevent cleaning.

Once cleaned in water, get some IPA (isopropyl alcohol) >99% and put a little in a container. Then submerge the boards, one by one, and go over it with the brush again. IPA displaces the water left on the board, and will evaporate much, much quicker and not leave anything.

Leave the boards to dry for 30 minutes, then inspect them under high magnification. If there is any damage or corrosion, repeat until no visible corrosion. Then repair (or get someone to repair) the damaged parts.

Clean the keyboard and trackpad with IPA, and let dry. You can use air duster cans (compressed air on spray cans) and gently blow clean the keyboard and trackpad.

Once everything is cleaned and dried off, put it back together and test before doing a new fresh evaluation.

Doing nothing with liquid exposure, is like killing the device. Connecting it to power for charging is one of the worst things to do, as that hastens the corrosion process

I would start by making sure it is totally dry - like leave it in a warm dry place for days.

Then if it does not work after that, disassembly and cleaning with iso is the last resort.
