I have, it is an i7 27" Graphics / Display Replace How

Hi,
Im not sure which model of Mac I have, its old, very old. It is 27" and an i7.

The display went a bit crazy. I took it to a shop who broke the glass display so I will need to buy a new or use an external one. I do have a thunderbolt to HDMI, so that a possible.
Since getting it back from the shop. I have no graphics. I do have a hardware back ground and whilst I have never looked in side a Mac before, I can find my way around PC's.
I see 1 board, which I guess is power then a mother board. Everything else is cooling, mic extra things.
If the shop trashed the graphics, is there a way to make this system work again. Its far from the latest and greatest, it was good for my needs.
Any ideas/suggestions would really help. I cant afford a new one, so if its gone its gone and Ill use a normal PC with linux.
Thanks

Jess.

Let’s see if we can narrow down what your system is. On the bottom of your systems foot stand you should be able to find its serial number. Plug it into here EveryMac - Lookup let us know what you have then we can try to get you fixed.

Thank you for your answer, I thought it was an i7 it appears to be an i5. Which does not fit with my memory. Anyway putting that aside.

The site you mentioned says:

Apple iMac "Core i5" 3.2 27" (Late 2013) Specs

Identifiers: Late 2013 - ME088LL/A - iMac14,2 - A1419 - 2639

Thank you for your help. My needs are very simple, it was great for what I need.

That site says it has a graphics card. I can only see 2 boards. Ive not removed them to look behind. There is no room for a normal pci------- card, possible its connected by a ribbon cable, if it is , its very well hidden.

Thank you again to anyone who helps.

@jessbaker - From 2012 onward iMac’s don’t have a GPU board/card. The AMD chip is mounted directly on the main logic board. It is the other chip which has a heatsink.

With the display assembly connected (even. It’s broken) you should be able to connect an external display to your system and see an image within it. You will likely need to use your mouse/trackpad to move the pointer to the external. As an example if the display is to the left try sliding the left. Then give right, up and down a try at some point the pointer should show up on the external.

In any case you’ll need to replace the display assembly as some point.
