No battery detected after battery change

Hello. I have MacBook Pro, a 1398 15” Late 2013.

Actually I had no problems until I changed the battery. I changed the battery and ran it, I used it until it had 5% charge left and then I plugged it into the charger.

But, the next day when I turned on the computer, I got the error message that no battery was detected. I tried many things (PRAM & SMC). but the problem is that although it does not recognize the battery, it works with the battery and when I plug in the charging cable, the cable LED does not light up. there is also an excessive fan noise when running on battery and the fan never turns off. When I do SMC reset again, it does not see the battery again, but the cable LED lights Red and the computer shuts down when pulled.

Sorry you got a bad battery😫

You’ll need to contact the seller to get a replacement.

The problem is the batteries micro-controller failed. This has been a large problem across many as the chip supply has been a problem.

@barbarosy I had this exact same issue with an after market battery for a 2013 MacBook Air.

You have done pretty much every check and test you easily can, but there is one other test (that I did):

I put the battery that wasn’t recognized back in, and turned on the Mac. Then I let it charge (even though the Mac said there was no battery connected) for several hours. Turned it off and unplugged the battery again, then I used my DMM (digital multimeter) and measured the voltage of the battery. It was showing full charge, which led me to there being some sensor issue, most likely, with that battery.

Contacted the vendor and they created a replacement order, but I still haven’t received it for testing because it was OOS. I have to wait another 3-5 weeks for them to get it back in stock.

Check if the voltage corresponds to the expected voltage, and if it has voltage you’re probably looking at a faulty (or somehow incompatible battery). If the battery is showing no (or very little) voltage, that could be a problem because lithium batteries do NOT like going below minimum operating voltage, without pretty much dirt napping.
