How can I tell Microsoft Surface model if it does not power on?

How can I determine which model of Surface I have?  It will not power on and I don't know if it has any charge.  I have plugged it into a power supply that shows a solid with light while plugged in. Other than that, no other lights on the device give any indication that it is charging or anything. I need to identify the device so I can begin diagnostics and repair. Please help. Thank you. The underside has "Microsoft" with a number beneath.
