All of the lights are on, but the computer doesn't post.

As above. I replaced the display cable before this happened, and I tried turning the computer on and the power light, disk light, caps lock light, and WiFi light stayed on, but no signs of life. The HDD didn't spin, the fans stayed off, and not even the power button responded to any input. I have heard that the onboard RAM (soldered to the mobo) might be bad, but as of right now I have no way to test it.

You say if it was working before you replaced the display cable.

@aactech I did replace the display cable, but I know that is not the issue here. I have tried using HDMI output with no success.

Hi @dumbin8er

When was it last working and what happened just before it stopped working?

por

@aactech I was replacing the cable. When I put it back together I noticed it wouldnt post. (This was several months ago btw)

por

@dumbin8er Must be something to do with how you connected the cable unless you disturbed something else while doing the replacement. Yes it is hard to recall several months back! I would just try redoing it again. Photos and notes sometimes help when doing repairs.

Hi @dumbin8er

Just verifying that you disconnected the battery from the motherboard before replacing the video cable etc?

If you did, try a full power refresh and check if that works.

Disconnect the charger if connected.

Open the laptop and disconnect the main battery from the motherboard. You don't have to remove the battery, just disconnect it.

Disconnect the cmos battery from the motherboard.

Here's the ifixit Asus Vivobook Q301LA-BHI5T02 guides that may help although since you've replaced the video cable you probably won't need it.

Press and hold the laptop's Power On button for a full 30 seconds and then release it.

Reconnect the cmos battery. Reconnect the main battery and re-assemble the laptop. Connect the charger and see if it turns on.
