My truck ran fine all throughout the day until I went home from work. It will move at low engine speed in 1st gear but won't put down power at high rpm and won't shift out of 1st gear without excessive engine rpm. I checked the fluid level and it was normal. There is also a burning smell. It has a 3 speed automatic with overdrive.

the first thing is transmission fluid.
Low or no fluid could cause all those symptoms
