iMac 7,1 doesn´t boot when is cold?, any clues about what it can be?
Hi there!!, my best wishes for a wonderful day to all of you reading me :) , I was just wondering if there´s someone that have experienced before the same situation:
My iMac 7,1 doesn´t run if is cold ( for example circa 16ºC), sometimes I have to try several times, normally I just put it out in the sun for awhile, or just use an electric heater if is winter time..., then it runs, ( sometimes several times trying needed, plugin and unplugin the power cord ..., with the heater directed to it..until it finally runs), after to have been working on it for awhile, if I leave it on "stand by" (sleep mode) during the whole night (but need to be exclusively running a program, for example: I play a video file on VLC , pause it, and leave it that way until the screen is off and that`s it, so next day no need to switch it on and it works, but if not on that "state", then it will just turn off when I try to "awake" him, so next step is the one we already know, sun or electric heater....etc. etc.
Apart from this I have been also facing few difficulties with other issues which I will post in another questions, cause maybe is the proper way to do it, but I think that maybe it helps also to know about the fact that the original 3.5" hard disk (with temperature sensor...), got broken, so I replaced initially with a Seagate Barracuda 1TB, it worked, but then I started to have this problem I am exposing on this thread (to be honest not sure if from the day I replaced or later), then I got exhausted, so I decided to try an SSD and suddenly changed my mind to a Firecuda Hybrid HD 1TB (ssd and hard disk also) in order to see if it could solve the booting problem and it didn´t, I also realised that the optical drive (with temperature sensor...) wasn´t working, so I just removed it (actually is one of the issues I mentioned before, which is about to install windows onto El Capitan and seems like no way without optical drive...), now the last try was a full SSD 256GB , and it did not solve the problem either, still having the same problem, need to be heated.
Finally I will only add that I did the diagnostic test leds , and when it fails to boot, led #1 is on leds #2 and #3 blink, fan starts, but then all switch off and need to unplug the cable and plug it again, led #1 on again...., sometimes you cannot even hear the typical starting sound when it tries to run, actually when you heating it it slowly last a little bit longer gradually (assuming that is the temperature, no idea exactly where or whats the part that really need to be warm in order to make it possible to run) , until finally it "gets it".
Not having to much more to say from now, I would be more than glad to say thanks for the great job you all do here guys sharing all your knowledge, is definitely a good way to provide for humanity fighting ignorance. Thank you very much in advance for your help and the time dedicated to analyze my case.
Esta é uma boa pergunta?
