LCD screen very dim
I plugged in a DVI to VGA adapter one day after I had dropped the unit about 2 feet to floor. It has been very dim. External monitor works fine!

You may have damaged the inverter or inverter cables or knocked them loose. This can happen more easily if the book is open when dropped. Here's how to open it up to check them: MacBook Pro 15" Core Duo Model A1150 Display Inverter Replacement
