MacBook Pro not turning on, but charger does

Hello everyone.

I was given a Macbook Pro 15 said to be from 2010, but it seems to be from 2009 by its serial number. It’s an A1286.

The owner said it turned off when he connected a USB hub. Now it does not turn on.

The charger has a green light when connected. And when charging level button is pressed the first indicator blinks green rapidly, for like three seconds.

Unplugged battery. Removed RAM sticks. Tried SMC reset. Nothing happened. Also display backlight and front white light never turns on.

The only thing that gave me hope is holding power button for 10 seconds then plugging charger. The charger light does not light green/orange, but when I hit power button again the fans spin. Hitting power again make them stop. Charger only lights green again if I unplug it and plug in again.

Any idea on what I can do to try to solve this?

Thanx.

It sounds like your battery needs to be replaced!

Let’s get a better view of things, install this gem of an app! CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the apps main window and post it here for us to see Adicionar imagens a uma pergunta já existente

How am I supposed to install an app if the notebook does not turn on?

Maybe the battery needs to be replaced. I can try to find one around here, just for testing.

But... shouldn't it turn on if the battery is disconnected and I have it connected to the wall?

@Bruno Cappelletti - My bad, I thought it was getting that far.

You'll need a good charged battery to test things.

@danj Yeah, but isn't it supposed to boot if you have the battery removed and the notebook plugged to the wall? I think it should, as all notebooks. So I don't think the issue is the battery.

@Bruno Cappelletti - Sorry no the 15" models need a battery to run. The newer retina 13" models you could get it to kick over after you've discharged the logic board.

Oh, so I really need to get one for testing. Thanx.
