Squealing noise during wash cycle

Hi, I have a 28 year old Whirlpool top washer, Model # LA5558XTW2. It has started to make a loud squealing sound during the wash cycle. Everything else is fine. Is this a belt or bearing issue? When do I know it’s time to replace it? I have replaced the ag. dogs twice myself.
