Water Damage- No Face ID/Deadspots
Hi yeah so as the title says. My girlfriend got a ridiculously small amount of water on her phone. We were on holiday and it was about 40 degrees so I think this probably melted the waterproofing a little and allowed the water to get in.
Face ID just constantly says ‘Move higher/Lower’ when trying to set up a face and the screen has vertical deadspots on it. Picture attached, excuse the muggy face :D Where there is no pink, it’s unresponsive.
I took it apart, disconnected the screen and cleaned majority of phone is isopropyl but still nothing. I’m going to replace the screen, hopefully this works. Does anyone have any tips of how I could actually fix the old screen and/or Face ID?
Thanks in advance!
Update (09/18/2020)
So I decided to replace the screen as I think it was unrepairable. The issue with Face ID is the flashing red light (dot projector) which can’t be fixed I don’t think so I have no Face ID.
I’m unsure if it worked after the water damage however I have no sound coming through the earpiece speaker. I discovered a small tear where the ribbon cable is soldered on twice. I put electrical tape over the tear as a bit of a hope but it didn’t work. Should I just replace the earpiece assembly entirely or is there something else to try?
Is there any way to get Face ID back or not?
Thanks.
