Boot Loop after small drop.

About a week ago, my phone slid off of a chair I was sitting on. Very light fall, 40-50 centimetres. However now my iPhone X is stuck in a boot loop. I am very confused. I don’t have a macbook, but when I plug it into my windows laptop, it doesn’t boot loop; nothing happens. Any suggestions? I took it to an Apple Certified repair place and they said it was the motherboard, and I would have to pay 600 usd for a replacement of the entire internals. I really don’t wanna do that. Obviously.

Update (09/10/2020)

Update: My sister has a mac and when I plug it in, the screen stays off. Nothing.

Pontus is right about boot-loops. You will need to rule out parts. However even a small drop on the X series can cause problems as they are a sandwiched board, there is a top and bottom board that is connected by solder balls.

Apple uses a low melt solder on these and when the solder balls crack from a drop the get oxidised and lose their connection causing the top board to be unable to communicate with the bottom.

Bootloops can be caused by almost anything, for starters try to boot the phone with just battery and display connected. If the phone boots fine that way then keep connecting other parts one by one until it starts bootlooping again to find the faulty part.

If this doesn’t work you could either assume it’s motherboard related and needs microsoldering work to get it fixed, also quite expensive but not 600usd expensive. Or you could also try to factory reset the phone to make sure it’s not software related if you dont care about the data on the phone.

Also if you’re not experienced in taking phones apart just take it to a third party repair shop instead of apple and let them do the troubleshooting for you, shouldn’t cost that much.
