Power connector extremely hot after new battery

Hi , I recently purchased the Ifixit battery replacement kit for my mid 2014 mbp. The installation went fine, and the battery seems to hold charge fine. However when charging the laptop the charger connector gets extremely hot along with the laptop getting slightly warm, which causes the fans to spin. When trying apple diagnostics i get the error PPT004. Is it possible this is due to a faulty battery? I followed the guide exactly and I’m not sure what could have happened.
