My Sp won't charge?

My Sp quit working after 15 years of being able to play. Gradually the system had an increasingly difficult time recognizing the charging cable before flat out not charging at all. I bought a kit to replace the battery but it didn’t seem to help.

Are there certain parts of the system known to cause this issue?
