Screw Diagram with Grounds?

In my brief foray into iPhone repair, I've come to realize how important making sure I replace every single little screw on my iPhone 4. Is there a diagram that exists or can someone create one, showing all the screws that ground certain components (such as the long screw at the top being necessary for wifi/GPS)?

That would help immensely as some money could be saved on parts when I know there is just a screw that needs to be in place in order for some components to function properly. I think this may be the case with my non-functional mic and crappy sounding speaker.

Thanks!

there should be a screw guide to print for disassembly of your phone, you might like to take notes from the guides which have notes about those screws. Take a look at the front display guide..it seems to have most screws listed.

Not what I'm looking for but thanks for responding. I really need to know why my mic isnt working even though I've replaced my dock connector/microphone. I can only assume something's not making a connection and need to know ASAP. Not being able to make phone calls on my PHONE is not good...

If you look at the guides like this one and check the instruction on the right side, each screw is described and should therefore help you with you task.

Again, they say nothing as to their dependencies. I was able to find at least one other person that was having the same issues and someone was knowledgeable enough to mention that the screw closest to the rear-facing camera that contacts the metal frame of the phone grounds the mic. In those guides, there are no notes mentioning this. I guess it's a secret...

don't think it's a secret..you are on about the second mic that cancels out noise in calls (near camera) but it sounds like you're having trouble with the mouthpiece mic..I'm sure this has been dealt with, give us a bit of time and we'll link to that for you.

Microphone not working when making/receiving calls this question seems to be the same as yours. the problem is the big headed screw on the frame..he says it's the one to the left of the rear facing camera. I'm sorry in my first answer I read to the left of camera and assumed he meant the standoff screw..Hope you read this before fiddling about with the wrong screw..

That is the question I've been referencing, but I assumed he meant the screw to the left of te camera. He should have said the "standoff screw," then I would have known. I'll fiddle with this tomorrow as I should be getting my home button proper tomorrow, too. Thanks, and I'll let u know how it goes!

I might have misunderstood his answer..you think it is the small screw in orange on step 23? my mistake..wrong camera!

por

People need to be a bit more precise with location. He would save himself the frustration if he said front camera or rear camera. I'm not thinking my issue is as simple as a screw anymore. Wondering if the top mic is blown now???

por

was it the standoff screw or was it the other?

por

Neither one affected my situation. I tried the mic with and without the standoff screw and there was no change. I'm awaiting a new mic/powerbuttonflex cable.

Hello,

I am curious about this situation as well. I believe my phone may have an issue with a faulty ground causing problems for the noise canceling mic. My primary mic works when I pinch the phone near the front facing camera. I feel rather positive that my issue is related to grounding/connectivity, however I, like the original author, am uncertain about the functionality of the screws that may be the culprit. I am specifically curious about this standoff screw that has been mentioned. Any ideas on how I may ensure connectivity or grounding?

I think a slight drop may have instigated my problem, if it helps with potential solutions. Thanks.
