What is this used for? (S7 battery replacement)

Everything looks very straight forward. I've watched several videos on replacing the battery but my question is "what are the two thin plastic things for”?  I’m not talking about the guitar pick looking things but the long things. There are two of them attached together that look like they peel apart. (see photo)

I’ve not seen them used in any video.
