Plastic guide part came out when scanning

I was scanning a page in that unfortunately had some sticky stuff on it and a part came out stuck to the paper in the mechanism in the top:

This is the part:

I’ve been trying to work out where it belongs and how to put it back in, but I’m stumped.

Any ideas?

I worked it out. It goes on the bottom part, as shown in the attached pic.
